Course Information
Description	Advanced electrical instruction and skill building in installation and servicing of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including detailed instruction in motors and power distribution motors, motor controls, and application of solid state devices.
Prerequisites	None
Learning Outcomes	Apply the principles and theory of power distribution; describe the theory, operation, and protection of electric motors; identify the application of solid state devices; troubleshoot electric motors and controls.

Program Student Learning Outcomes	?Demonstrates standard safety procedures as required in industry. ?Troubleshoots air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems. ?Prepares to pass the EPA Section 608 certification exam. ?Demonstrates ability to read diagrams and schematics. ?Identifies shop tools. ?Demonstrates an understanding of electricity.

Course Policies

Attendance Policy	Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Missing a day of lecture can possible cause you to drop a letter grade on tests. 1. Tardiness: Tardiness (more than 5mins), for lectures or labs, 2 Tardies will count as an Absence. 2. Absences: NOTE: Excused absences (verifiable) are only allowed for, an illness that requires a hospital stay or a death in your immediate family, excluding aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 5 absences=drop 1 letter grade, 7 absences=drop 2 letter grades, 9-absences=drop 3 letter grades, 11 absences=F
Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
